Composer and music producer, Hans Zimmer, is coming to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Wednesday April 19th with his band and friends for a night of electronic music and orchestral arrangements.
Hans Zimmer has scored over 100 films, grossing more than 15 billion dollars at the box office worldwide. He has been honored with an Academy Award, two Golden Globes, and four Grammy’s. In 2003, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers presented him the prestigious Henry Mancini award for Lifetime Achievement for his impressive and influential body of work.
More recently Hans Zimmer has scored arrangements for the film, Dunkirk and the TV show, Planet Earth 2 but possibly his most famous score is for Disney’s The Lion King! Since the success of The Lion King, Zimmer has written numerous film scores. His hundredth composition was for The Last Samurai, for which he won both a Golden Globe and a Broadcast Film Critics nomination in 2004.
He has received numerous honours and awards, including: Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in Film Composition from the National Board of Review, Frederick Loewe Award in 2003 at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, ASCAP’s Henry Mancini Award for Lifetime Achievement, and BMI’s prestigious Richard Kirk Award for lifetime achievement in 1996. Today, Zimmer is considered to be the father of integrating the electronic musical world with traditional orchestral arrangements.
